Common superficial bacterial skin infection, most commonly seen in children 2-5 yrs, older and adults can be affected, contagious, easily spread w/close contact, mostly due to S.aureus, S.pyogenes, combination. Two types: non-bullous (AKA impetigo contagiousum, most common form, papules surrounded by erythema, progress form pustule enlarge and break down to form thick honey crusts) Bullous (seen in young children, flaccid bullae w/clear yellow fluid later becomes purulent, leave thick brown crust, common locations are face, extremities and diaper area)
