Why do Muslims believe Allah placed Adam in the Garden of Eden?

Muslims believe Allah placed Adam in the Garden of Eden to prove mankind needs his guidance. Even though Allah made Adam a Kalifa, when he gave into Iblis’ temptation, God “turned towards him”, because he is not only merciful and forgiving, but he also revealed the need for his continual guidance by using the Garden as a ‘training ground’, “Then he has left him to make his own choice.”
