Drug therapy usually involves the use of amine-depleting drugs (eg, reserpine, tetrabenazine), the latter having less troublesome adverse effects. Dopamine receptor antagonists (eg, haloperidol, perphenazine) are also sometimes effective and olanzapine is also used.
