Clomipramine and the SSRIs are effective in obsessive-compulsive disorders. SSRIs are approved for patients who suffer from generalized anxiety disorders, panic attacks, social phobias, post-traumatic stress disorder, bulimia, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder, and they may also be useful in the treatment of alcohol dependence.
