Use of flucytosine

The antifungal spectrum of 5-FC is narrow; used in combination with amphotericin B or a triazole, of infections resulting from Cryptococcus neoformans, possibly systemic candidal infections and chromoblastomycosis caused by molds 5-FC is fungistatic. It is effective in combination with itraconazole for treating chromoblastomycosis and in combination with amphotericin B for treating candidiasis and cryptococcosis.
