The mode of presentation in approximately 50% of cases is the nephrotic syndrome, although it may begin as acute nephritis or mild proteinuria. ➢ The prognosis generally is poor. ➢ MPGN type I also may occur in association with other disorders (secondary MPGN), such as : 1. Systemic lupus erythematosus, 2. Hepatitis B and C, 3. chronic liver disease, 4. chronic bacterial infections. ➢ Often no etiology or association is found, the disease in called idiopathic
