EPIDEMIOLOGY Equal incidence in men and women Usual age at diagnosis is 65 to 70 years HISTOLOGY Most are leiomyosarcomas. Spread is hematogenous ( No lymphatic metastasis). TREATMENT: Surgical resection with free margins. PROGNOSIS Low-grade tumors: Five-year survival rate is ∼80% High-grade tumors: Five-year survival rate is ∼30%.
