Pregunta:

Why did the Nazis succeed in elections - disillusionment with democracy

Autor: Freya Watson

Respuesta:

Politicians were unable to tackle the problems of the depression. When the depression started, Chancellor Bruning cut government spending and welfare benefits and urged Germans to make sacrifices. Bruning called new elections in 1930 which was a bad decision as it gave the Nazis the opportunity to exploit the discontent in Germany. Unemployment was heading towards 6 million, and the average German's income had fallen by 40% since 1929.
