What is shock?

Condition in which decreased CO reduces blood perfusion causing cellular hypoxia. Initially reversible, but if prolonged leads to irreversible tissue damage and fatal. Can complicate severe bleeding, trauma, burns, MI, PE, sepsis. 3 Categories, cardiogenic, hypovolemic and septic. More rare shock due to loss of vascular tone due to anesthesia/spinal cord injury (neurogenic shock), anaphylactic shock systemic vasodilation and increased vascular permeability by IgE Hypersensitivity.
