There are two forms (soluble (cytosolic- sEH) and microsomal (mEH)). Epoxides are highly reactive and can bind to cellular nucleic acids and be carcinogenic, so epoxide hydrolases deactivate the toxic compounds produced by CYP. Ex: Benzopyrene transformed into epoxides
