Pregunta:
What are the outcomes of acute inflammation?
Autor: H KRespuesta:
Depends on nature and intensity of inflammation, site and tissue affected, responsiveness of the host. Three possible outcomes: Complete resolution (restored normal, limited/ short injury or little tissue destruction, and damaged cells can regenerate) Healing by CT replacement (scarring or fibrosis, after great tissue destruction/ tissue can't regenerate, abundant fibrin exudate that can't be cleared, may be loss of function after pus formation) Progression to chronic inflammation (can't be resolved, persistent injurious agent/ interference w/normal process of healing, we see angiogenesis, mononuclear infiltrates, fibrosis, more seen in viral injury, chronic infection, autoimmune)
