Usually of lining body cavities (meninges, pericardium and pleura) Histology: eosinophilic threads or amorphous coagulum They are dissolved by fibrinlysis of macrophages, if not removed leads to scarring and ingrowth of fibroblasts and may cause obliteration of pericardial space
