Contraindications for external compression – (mechanical)

• Heart failure or pulmonary edema • Recent or acute dvt, thrombophlebitis, pulmonary embolism • Obstructed lymphatic or venous return • Severe arterial insufficiency • Skin infection • Hyponatremia with protein levels below 2 gm/dl • Acute trauma or fracture • Arterial revascularization
