- Changes to the gingival tissues (colour, size, shape, consistency, surface texture and also position of gingival margin) - Looking at mucogingival involvement (adequate width of attached gingiva) - Presence of bleeding on probing - Presence of exudate - Probing depths - Pocket formation - Attachment levels - Furcation involvement - Dental biofilm and calculus present - Tooth mobility - Radiographic evidence
