Second-Generation Cephalosporins: Dosage/Route: Adult: 250 mg PO b.i.d.; 750 mg-1.5 g IM q8h; reduce dose with renal impairment Pediatric: 125-250 mg PO b.i.d.; 50-100 mg/kg/d IM or IV in divided doses q6-8h Usual Indications: Treatment of a wide range of infections as listed for other second-generation drugs; Lyme disease; preferred treatment in situations involving an anticipated switch from parenteral to oral drug use.
