Auxins

Are related to tryptophan, promotes stem elongation, regulate many other aspects of plant development: Phototropism and gravitropism, Branching, Embryonic patterning, Organ initiation. At high concentrations, auxin inhibits root elongation. Auxins are used as selective herbicides. At lower concentrations, auxin stimulates root development. Auxin induces root formation in tissue culture.
