What is fetal alcohol spectrum disorder? (FASD)

Umbrella term that occurs due to maternal use of alcohol during pregnancy that causes damage to the fetus (ethanol crosses the placenta and toxins accumulate in the fetus) - most common cause of intellectual disorders
