NO - it can cause some useful therapeutic effects i.e. bronchodilation and decreased mucus secretion HOWEVER it would have several side effects e.g. blocking M2 receptors in the heart causing tachycardia. it is a tertiary amine and can exist in an uncharged form, this uncharged form is very lipid soluble and so can cross through various membranes and barriers in the body, it would enter the systemic circulation and cause unpleasant effects. NB: atropine must become +ve (protonated) in order to mimic ACh and bind to mAChR agonist binding site.
