Major component of elastin fibers, found in variable number of loose CT and abundant in elastic ligaments, arteries, cartilage. Ability to stretch and recoil back into original. Synthesis is same as collagen, elastin is mostly assosciated with other components , proteoglycans, structural glycoproteins.
