level questions: The Eye

QuestionAnswer
What are the different Parts of an Eye?-Cornea: Simply Bends or Refracts the Light into the Eye] -Iris: Can control how much light comes into the Pupil [Hole in Middle] -Lens: Same job has as the Cornea, excepts it also Focuses the Light for the Cornea -Ciliary Body: This has Ciliary Muscles which are linked with the Suspensory Ligaments. These 2 pair up to be able to Alter the Shape of the Lens -Retina: This is the Light Sensitive Part. Full of Rods and Cones which are Receptors which detects light. -Rods: Better in Dim Light, but struggles with Colour -Cones: Better with Different Colours but cant deal with Dim Light -Optical Never: Takes the Impulses from the Receptors to the Brain
Are the Lens elastic, or not? What does that meanThe Lens are elastic meaning it can Focus the Light via the Shape of the Lens
What happens in the Eye, when viewing Distant Objects?1) Ciliary Muslces Relaxes, but the Suspensory Ligaments pull tightly which leads on to... 2) The Lens becomes into a Less Rounded Shape. This means that the Light is Refracted Less
What happens when you look at Close Objects in terms of the Eye-Ciliary Muscles here Contracts, and the Susponsory Ligaments Slackens [They are both Inverse.] This leads to... -Lens becoming more Rounded, the Light is Refracted More
What's the problem with Long-sighted People? Why?-Long-sighted people can not really Focus on Near Objects -Can happen when the Lens aren't in the Correct Shape, which leads to the Wrong enough of Light being Refracted. [Usually less] Can also be that the whole Eyeball is too short -This leads to the Near object being Focused Behind the Retina, which isn't ideal -Glasses, or Contact Lens that is CONVEX can Correct it
What's the Problem with Short-Sighted People? Why?-Short Sighted People can Not Focus on Far Objects -Happens when the Lens is in the Wrong Shape, and Bends the Light Too much, or the Eyeball is too Long -Glasses, or CONCAVE Lens can Correct it -Alternative to Glasses or Contact Lens is Corneal Laser Surgery
What is the Problem with Colour Blind People? Why?-Colour Blind people can't tell the Difference between Certain Colour -Common ones are Red/Green. This happens because the Red or Green Cones in the Retina aren't Functional -This can not be Cured, but Tinted Lens can help for better Colour Vision.
How does the Eye Respond to Dim Light?-Radical Muscles Contracts [Found in the Iris] -Circular Muscles Relaxes [Found in the Iris -Dilated Pupil = More Light enters In.
How does the Eye respond to Bright Light?-Radical Muscles Relaxes [Found in the Iris] -Circular Muscles Contracts [Found in the Iris] -Contracted Pupil = Less Light comes in
