Fibrous joints | -Dense fibrous connective tissue -High tensile strength -Little movement in adults -example include cranial sutures, periodontal ligaments (teeth) and interrouseus membranes (between bones) |
Primary cartilaginous | -Allow for bone growth -Disappear in adults -No movement -examples include epiphyseal growth plate |
Secondary cartilaginous joint | -Do not ossify with age -Found in midline of body -Limited movement -examples include intervertebral discs |
Synovial joints | -greatest movement -may also contain -ligaments and articular discs |
